WHY WE PARTY

Our intention at Sufey Yoga is to create an all-inclusive, accessible and accepting space for community to come together, support each other, heal, laugh, dance, sing, express, explore, play, learn and love. In every city we host teacher trainings in, we also host wickedly fun parties that are FREE and open to the public.

It’s our way of saying thank you, we love you, and giving back to our beautiful tribe.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Honestly, we have no idea. Come with an open mind and be ready to move, sing, make friends, get sweaty, step out of your comfort zone and laugh harder than you’ve ever laughed before. Just like Sufey’s classes, our parties are a bit crazy, with unexpected twists and turns along the way. Be open to the possibilities and you might just have a ridiculously good time!

Yogi Kirtan Party

featuring
SUFEY CHEN & OLIVER SWAIN

SUFEY CHEN is wildly devoted to the Divine. Fondly nicknamed Baby Buddha by her students, her classes are a potent elixir of ancient teachings, intimate inquiries, human connection and childlike play. An embodiment of the feminine Shakti essence, her presence is nourishing, vulnerable, and fiercely compassionate. Her deep love for her students and the poetic beauty of being alive shines brightly from every humble offering of her heart.

A teacher of teachers (and student of students), Sufey guides transformational immersions into the soul. Wandering around the world with bare feet, a big grin, and a wholehearted expression of loving kindness, her yoga teacher trainings and retreats have blossomed beautifully throughout Bali, Thailand, Mexico, Costa Rica, Canada and the USA.

OLIVER SWAIN is Canada’s quintessential folk and traditional musician.  He eats, sleeps and breathes music, and his prolific career evidences this in many ways.  With his pure, finely tuned vocals that have an astonishing range, and his undeniable skill behind a banjo or upright bass, Oliver grabs the attention of all who hear him, and holds it with his enormous sound and stature. From the most vulnerable and innocent sounding banjo ditties to the brave and imposing bowed bass, Oliver delivers his own brand of alternative folk and traditional music to the masses with a smile and a twinkle in his eye.

Swain’s career on the stage has seen him tour through much of North America, Australia and Europe, highlighted by appearances at Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg Folk Festivals, Mountain View Music Fest, and the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, and sharing stages with the likes of Ridley Bent, Dustin Bentall, and Marc Savoy, among others.  He’s a two time Prairie Music Award recipient (The Bills) and shared a 2008 WCMA nomination for Outstanding Roots Group with Outlaw Social.
